What services do you offer?

While I offer a range of services, my primary areas of practice are evaluation and direct intervention services. This includes the assessment of individuals across the lifespan experiencing a range of concerns such as learning difficulties, attentional dysfunction, executive functioning issues, cognitive processing concerns, Autism Spectrum Disorder symptomatology, delays in development, language and communication difficulties, social functioning impairments, memory weaknesses, behavioral and emotional dysregulation. The interventions that I provide, both therapy and practical skill-building, address many of the domains underlying the areas above. Direct intervention is generally done on a one-to-one basis in person or via telehealth. Group sessions are being developed but are not yet available given the restrictions associated with CoVid 19.

How long does an evaluation take?

An evaluation involves many steps. After the initial intake a client receives an appointment for assessment. The time frame between the intake and the evaluation varies depending on time of year and schedule availability (there are some times of year that tend to be busier than others).

After the intake, a packet of paperwork is provided to parents/guardians/clients to complete. That is due back one week prior to the initial testing session. In general, the clinical interview occurs the week prior to or the day of the initial testing session-but only after paperwork and records have been received and reviewed. Testing itself typically involves between 6 to 8 hours of direct assessment (either face to face or remote), spread out over two days. Both testing sessions occur within a 7-day window as often as possible. The data from the intake and testing needs to be reviewed, scored, and interpreted prior to the completion of a comprehensive written report. That report can take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks to generate. After the report is complete, a feedback session is scheduled where results are reviewed and questions are answered.

In all the entire process from clinical interview to feedback takes between 4 and 6 weeks.

What are the rates of your services?

Evaluation fees are 3,000 dollars for children age 5 and under and 3,300 dollars for ages 6 through adult. At times this number can change slightly depending upon the complexity of the referral question. Therapy and intervention services are billed at 165 dollars per clinical hour. As I am Out-Of-Network on many insurances (beginning March 30, 2021) I do not take insurance as a form of payment. However, I can provide you with the necessary paperwork to aid you in submitting your own claim in an effort to request reimbursement from your insurance provider. I cannot guarantee that they will cover all, or any, of the cost of services but I will do my best to support your efforts.

Are you licensed?

Yes. As a practicing clinical psychologist in the state of Georgia, I am required to hold a license. I also hold a license to practice in the state of New York. Additionally, I have taken the necessary steps to obtain authorization to practice as a telehealth psychologist in the state of Florida through the Florida Board of Psychology. After an extensive review of my background, experience, and education, I have also been authorized to provide telehealth services to clients in AZ, CO, DC, DE, IL, MO, NC, NE, NH, NV, OK, PA, TX, UT, AND VA under PsyPact an interstate compact that grants me the Authority to Practice inter-jurisdictional Telephsychology (APIT).

How do I know if an evaluation is needed?

You can always contact me via email to schedule a free 20-minute consultation to discuss your concerns and talk about next steps.  In some cases this is an easy decision: An individual has a long history of delayed development. Behavioral, functional, attentional, emotional, and/or academic differences become apparent following a head injury (mild, moderate, or severe) or change in medical status. An individual has been diagnosed with medical conditions that has a direct effect on the brain (i.e., epilepsy/seizures). An individual has a history of difficulties with day-to-day task completion, even when there is a great deal of external structure.

There are other cases that also lend to the use of a psychological or neuropsychological evaluation: A child is experiencing difficulties in school or at home (academically and/or interpersonally), including but not limited to: learning differences, difficulties in a particular academic area, emotional changes or concerns, attention issues, behavioral changes or difficulties, and difficulties with timely task completion.

Do you work with clients outside of Georgia?

I am licensed to practice in Georgia and New York State. I also provide telehealth services to residents of Florid. In addition, I have been approved to offer Telehealth/Telepsychology services under the authority of APIT. This allows me to provide telehealth services in all APIT PSYPACT participating states, which currently include Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington, DC. New states are joining the PSYPACT commission regularly.

Why don't you take insurance?

While I have been In-Network in the past, this has proven to place constraints on the services that I could deliver and has sometimes caused unexpected fees for families. Additionally, I have spent a great deal of time attempting to get authorization for services that were only sometimes approved, and then at times ultimately not covered. Given this, as of March 30, 2021, I stopped submitting insurance claims on behalf of clients for testing or therapeutic services. I am happy to provide a Superbill which may help in the process of YOU requesting reimbursement from your insurance provider. Clients are responsible for obtaining reimbursement through their out-of-network services.
